In 2016, Genesis Mining, a Bitcoin mining company, sent 1 Bitcoin to space. They released a air-balloon carrying a 3D printed Bitcoin and a Bitcoin wallet on a yellow paper. The balloon reached an altitude of 34 kilometers, which is above the ozone layer but not technically space.
The purpose of the project was to demonstrate that Bitcoin is a global currency that can be sent anywhere in the world, even to space. Genesis also wanted to show that Bitcoin is a digital currency, and that it is not necessary to send a physical object into space in order to send Bitcoin.
The Bitcoin wallet that was sent into space contained 1 BTC. The wallet was programmed to send the Bitcoin to another address after it reached a certain altitude. The Bitcoin was successfully transferred, and the company was able to recover the wallet after it landed back on Earth.

The Genesis Mining project was a successful way to demonstrate the power and flexibility of Bitcoin. It showed that cryptocurrencies can be sent anywhere, regardless of distance or location and they have no borders.
