99% of the market depends solely on the hype factor

The fact that hype around the coin can make it go up 10x in a few weeks is crazy enough, but people do forget that it also can go down as quick as it goes up. And this is the case with 99% of the market, whereas only a few coins actually have any use behind then that people are willing to support, thus being dependent on its tech and usecase instead of hype alone, but even these coins couldn't make it much further had people not created hype around it.

Which makes the whole market a gamble, because by the time you've realized the hype and FOMOed, it's already too late and you'll lose. If you do want to invest safely, I would suggest Bitcoin and Ethereum most of all, as not only these are the best ones, but their reputation alone is enough for the next few years for them to be successful.

Crypto.com proved this by making all the sponsorships and buying the arena, basically making everyone aware of their website and coin which created this hype around it only in a few days and it did really well.

So be careful when investing in alt coins, not only can they absolutely disappear after a few bear markets, but the ones that solely depend on hype will also disappear soon as the hype has died down. Both ELON and SHIBA are already dropping, and I don't think they'll reach their ATHs anymore, unless there's more hype around it somehow.
